On September 30, ReArch Construction joined housing partners Windham & Windsor Housing Trust and Evernorth Property, architect Vermont Integrated Architecture (VIA), project partners, and community members to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of Alice Holway, a new mixed-income housing community in Putney, Vermont.
The milestone marks the completion of a project designed to meet a critical housing need while showing how thoughtful design and high-performance building systems can support long-term affordability, comfort, and sustainability.
ReArch served as the general contractor for the 25,721-square-foot development, which includes 25 one- and two-bedroom apartments across two buildings. Five apartments are designated for households at risk of, or currently experiencing, homelessness, and three are accessible.
Beyond adding much-needed housing to the Putney community, Alice Holway meets Passive House requirements and incorporates several high-performance systems and features. A ground-loop geothermal heat pump provides space conditioning and hot water, while triple-glazed windows and energy-recovery ventilation reduce energy demand and improve occupant comfort. Rooftop solar photovoltaic panels further support the development’s energy-performance goals.
The project also included significant site infrastructure improvements, including new water and sewer extensions connecting to municipal mains and improvements to the existing sewer pump station.
Alice Holway represents the kind of project where housing, building performance, and community impact come together. The result is not simply 25 new homes, but thoughtfully designed, energy-efficient housing built to serve its residents and the Putney community for years to come.
We were honored to join the community in celebrating this important milestone and the lasting impact this development will have in Putney.
