NEWPORT, NH — In partnership with DRSWM Limited Partnership, RODE Architects, and the Newport community, we’re proud to announce the official ribbon cutting for Woolen Mills Apartment Homes. Once the historic Dexter Richards & Sons Mill, this iconic four-story brick structure overlooking the Sugar River has been thoughtfully restored and converted into 70 modern, affordable apartment units—offering a new chapter in its long history and much-needed housing for the region.
This revitalization preserved key architectural features—including arched windows, hardwood floors, and original structural beams—while integrating new mechanical systems and modern amenities to meet today’s standards. (Project portfolio)
Funded in part by Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits, the project adhered to strict historic preservation standards, ensuring that the character of this iconic landmark lives on.
Thank you to all the partners, funders, and community members who made this milestone possible!
