ReArch Construction is proud to celebrate an exciting achievement alongside our project partners: two projects at The Putney School—the Hepper House and Gund House Dorm & Faculty Residences—have been recognized with 2025 Vermont’s Greenest Building Awards by the Vermont Green Building Network (VGBN).
These awards highlight the power of collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to high-performance, low-carbon construction. We are honored to have worked alongside an exceptional team that includes Vermont Integrated Architecture, P.C. – Maclay Studio, Energy Balance, Inc., Engineering Ventures, PC, Cx Associates, and Engineering Services of Vermont, LLC to help bring these projects to life.
Designing for Performance and Sustainability

The Hepper House and Gund House projects demonstrate how thoughtful design and integrated construction strategies can dramatically reduce energy use while creating healthy, resilient spaces for students and faculty.
The Hepper House achieved an Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of 19.6 kBtu/sf/yr—approximately 80% below the baseline for a typical dormitory building. Similarly, the Gund House Dorm & Faculty Residences achieved an EUI of 20.3 kBtu/sf/yr, representing a 78% reduction below baseline performance standards.
In addition to operational energy performance, both projects were recognized for their focus on low embodied carbon strategies. By carefully considering materials, construction methods, and system integration, the project team reduced environmental impact while maintaining durability, functionality, and aesthetic quality.
The Value of Collaboration
Achievements like these are only possible through strong partnerships and a shared vision among owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and builders. The collaboration between The Putney School and the full project team created an environment where innovation and sustainability goals could thrive.
